Unlike in the United States, where there are no notable alt-right intellectuals (though Richard Spencer sometimes plays one on television), in Germany there has emerged a whole class of theoreticians set on providing historical and philosophical justifications for the resurgence of right-wing extremism.
Eigentlich hätte ich ihn hier fragen müssen, ob es mit seiner Arbeit anders ist. Denn Autoren werden in den USA ebenfalls (noch) nicht verhaftet. Bleibt auch ihre Arbeit folgenlos, sind sie nur ein schöner und interessanter Zeitvertreib, ohne politische Bedeutung? Die Frage fällt mir erst ein, nachdem wir uns schon verabschiedet haben. Stattdessen fragte ich, ob er einen Ausweg sieht, eine Hoffnung hat, dass Kultur irgendwann einmal wieder etwas bedeutet.
